Power pole scrounging

The Florida Power junk pile I started with.JPG (296991 bytes) This is a temporary yard Florida Power is renting from the concrete plant just north of the Pineda Causeway.  This is the trash pile I started with at about 8:45.  There is a lot of stuff to move out of the way before I can even get to the insulators to remove them. At least I have a beautiful day to do the work - too bad it will get so hot.
These insulators are quite large and HEAVY.JPG (291209 bytes) These insulators are quite large and HEAVY!  There are two of them on most of the pole sections.  The PB Blaster seems to help in removing the hardware.
Insulators removed and ready for loading.JPG (288553 bytes) I used a Griphoist and pulled the poles around to remove the insulators and gather them in to a group for easier loading.
Last pole with the insulators off.JPG (305579 bytes) Here is the last pole with the insulators removed.  Just a little clean up and I will call it quits.
After removing some of the stuff from on top of the poles we wanted.JPG (206167 bytes) It is about 2:30 in the afternoon and I am HOT and tired!
Bag of hardware and some other goodies.JPG (339921 bytes) A bag of hardware and a few other goodies. We loaded them up the next day. Despite my best intentions one of the trucks was parked in front of the poles.  It required a little additional work on our part to get them cut to length and loaded.
Cindy Griphoisting them off of the trailer.JPG (316672 bytes) Cindy used the Griphoist to unload them at the entrance to our property.
Cindy with the Griphoist.JPG (331043 bytes) Next to the last pole almost in position.
Mostly unloaded.JPG (356892 bytes) The large pole weighs almost 600 pounds. Only one short one to go. We will move them out of the way on our next visit.
