Here are the pictures from the July 4 2002. We have most of the
entrances to the property temporarily blocked off. This will hopefully
reduce the problems with trespass and dumping - only time will tell. Now we
need to get our Forest Stewardship plan and start the really big jobs.

Our new fence on the power line trail looking
Northeast
After many hours of brush cutting, post pounding
and wire stretching, our new fence is finished. With the help of some of
our good friends, it was easier than we thought. Not bad for a temporary
fence. Hopefully the dirt bikers will not cut it too many times.

Trying to keep the gate from being lifted off. This
is a brainstorm of Gary’s to make it too irritating for people to just
lift the gate off the hinges.

Locks on the gate at the power line easement near
the Flagler trail. Just our polite way of saying “No Trespassing”.

The No Trespassing sign is once again gone near the
Flagler Trail on the power line easement. First it was on a post,
which ended up in the brush. Then we tried a post in concrete. After
breaking the post, the brush had it again. Another post and sign found
its way to its final resting place in the ditch. Well at least it lasted
a while. We have a replacement on the new gate now. Keep your
fingers crossed.

After 2 weeks of rain, the low areas are filling
with water. This is our new fence on the power line easement looking
south. We will have to buy some rubber boots before we can finish the
fence here. At least we got the posts in before the rain hit.

|
Water in one of the paths near the Flagler trail
looking south. At least the water blocks off one of the entrances that
the bikers were using to get on to the property. It looks like God has
given us a temporary liquid fence.

Another spot of water near the Flagler trail
looking northeast. We are amazed that with all the rain, there are few
wet areas like this one.
|
 |
Glad
we had boots. The soil was still quite firm and we did not have much of
a problem stretching the wire. |
 |
Here
is Cindy finishing off the fence. The water allowed the front post
to move a bit so we tied it to the wire to stiffen things up. |
 |
South
part of the power line fence finished! The power line is now fenced off
on this end. |

Gary
standing behind the fence in the southwest corner. We had just
enough wire left to put two strands across, with about 6 inches to
spare. We found the barricade in the brush nearby. We
set it up over the wire to be a further deterrent. |
 |
It
seems FPL has not been able to find the agreement for this line on our
property. It is about 100 foot from the south west corner. |
 |
At
least they know where the line is by the number - it is not
"lost". |
 |
Here
is a view of it going south from our property. |
