We were out whacking away at the brush along the south property line. We had about 300' of pretty hard going to get through on our way to the corner. Now we have a string down the south line from the halfway point to the east corner. We used our home made laser sighting contraption. You can see it in the third picture below We spent $40 for a pair of red LED Lasers and attached them to a piece of scrap wood. We mounted that to the tripod and after some adjustment of the lasers at a shopping center to make sure that they were true we went out to mark the line. We found that by having two lasers we could aim one parallel to the string that we knew was correct and use a white target to find where the other one was pointing. We removed the brush so the laser would continue. In the partial shade the laser spot was visible for about 250 foot on the white card, giving us a 500 foot working range. At dusk the spot was easy to see for over 1000 foot allowing us to double check our work. At 1000 foot the spot was almost a foot across but it is doing the job that we need. If we had to do a lot of this we would have gotten at least one of the green LED Lasers that is easier to see in the sunlight but the price is around $130.
