We finally had some dry weather and some time to use the landscape rake on the yard area. There is a little bit of learning involved, but it worked out fine. The next step will be to use an old fashioned root rake that we borrowed to unearth the last few palmettos and roots in the area. After that occurs, we will use the landscape rake one more time to clean up the last bits.

This is the landscape rake attached and ready to go.
We set it at an angle to windrow the roots and palmettos that are too much for one pass of the rake.
We adjusted the depth so that the tines were in the soil about 1/2 to 3/4 inch. The gauge wheels made this very easy and maintained the height even over the rough areas. The wheels can be easily adjusted by moving the metal spacers above or below the support.
Only made a few passes at this point. The small pieces of palmetto and roots were left over from the root raking, as they were small enough to pass through the rake. Conditions were wet at the time of root raking, so the alternative would have been losing a lot of dirt to have them removed.
After a few more passes it is beginning to clean up nicely.
Nearly done with the first time over. The number of roots and palmettos is significantly reduced and the dirt is much smoother.
This is the next area to be done. It has quite a few ruts from driving the tractor around on it in the mud.
