Before we even had a piece of land, we began planning for our new house. We have drawn up many possible floor plans. We are now on revision 12 and we think it is close to the final plan. We will probably change a few things as we work through all of the details.

Here is the current floor plan for the house.  After the land is cleared , we will begin construction.

The house will resemble a barn with gambrel roof and barn red exterior walls.

 

 

Some of the features we will be incorporating into our new house are:

Solar power

Insulated concrete form (ICF) exterior walls

Stained concrete floors

White standing seam metal roof

Built-in hurricane/security shutters

Low E windows

Barrier-free room and hallway design (for possible future handicapped occupants)

Large tubs in both bathrooms (That’s for Cindy so she can soak)

Lots of storage space - with the present plans, the entire upstairs is open for use

Network jacks everywhere for computers

Sealed interior shell to reduce heating/cooling costs (with the A/C ducts located inside of the cooled area)

Large rooms (OK everything is large, but not fancy)
